I went to a secondary school in London where I got my 10 GCSE's and 3 A-levels in maths, physics and chemistry. I then went to Warwick University to do the first two years of my course - Masters of civil engineering. I then took a gap year to do my industrial placement as a site engineer. Finishing this year I returned to university to do the final two years of my degree. This time I transfered to Loughborough University to continue training at a higher level. I finished my civil engineering masters at Loughborough where I decided to stay on to do a PhD. I'm now finishing my first year studying the biological removal of Phosphorus from wastewater.
Work
I've had many jobs since I was 12, the usual newspaper delivery until I was 15 when I got qualified as a gymnastics coach. I started coaching gymnastics and trampolining and have been doing so along with other sports coaching up until now, including a summer doing camp America at international gymnastics camp. During my placement year I worked as a site engineer on a construction site building a set of large high street stores. For the last couple of years I have worked on summer camps and promotions work whilst not at university.
Training
Over the years I have done a lot of training in many different sports. I haven't been able to concentrate on one sport but it has given me a well rounded ability in many areas. Recently I have been spending a lot more time conditioning, running and doing gymnastics, but this has meant cutting out the time spent playing things such as football and tennis etc.
Spending more time on physical conditioning helps achieve a higher level in a whole range of sports. Most of my training consists of Dips, Chins, Handbalancing, Abs, Muscle ups and CV work.
On top of the physical conditioning I still maintain a small amount of training in gymnastics, acrobatics, trampolining, high diving and athletics. I no longer get the time to play other recreational sports but enjoy playing football, tennis, badminton , table tennis, squash and volleyball.
Competitions
I've taken part in many competitions throughout my life. More recently they have been in artistic gymnastics, trampolining, high diving and athletics. These have included: Team and individual BUSA, British veterans championships, intra university competitions, competing for the university in various competitions including an international, tough guy, ASA national diving championships and a number of road races.
Performances
I love getting involved in stage performances etc. Recently I have been on 'let me entertain you' on BBC2, Mr and Miss Loughborough and a christmas panto at the students union plus a couple of boy band lip syncs. I'm looking forward to more in the future.
Interests
I have a range of other interests outside sport that include films, music, nightclubs, bonsai cultivation and computing.
